A Secure Data Exchange Model for Mobile Healthcare Applications

The rapid adoption of mobile healthcare (mHealth) applications has significantly improved the accessibility and
efficiency of healthcare services by enabling patients and healthcare professionals to exchange medical
information through smartphones, tablets, and wireless networks. Despite these advantages, the transmission of
sensitive medical data over public communication channels introduces serious security and privacy challenges,
including unauthorized access, data modification, identity theft, and confidentiality breaches. Ensuring secure
data exchange while maintaining system efficiency remains a major concern in mobile healthcare environments.
This paper proposes a secure data exchange model designed to provide confidentiality, integrity, authentication,
and secure communication for mobile healthcare applications. The proposed model integrates user
authentication, encryption mechanisms, secure key management, and access control policies to protect electronic
health records during transmission between patients, healthcare providers, and cloud-based medical servers. The
model also supports secure communication over wireless networks while minimizing computational overhead
suitable for resource-constrained mobile devices. The proposed framework enhances data privacy, improves
communication reliability, and strengthens trust among healthcare stakeholders. The study demonstrates that the
proposed secure data exchange model provides an efficient solution for protecting sensitive healthcare
information while maintaining acceptable performance for mobile healthcare systems.
